Malaysia was the first place I ever traveled as a young adult.
I basically went there to live with my dad because I was getting into too much trouble in Australia, and doing so literally changed the trajectory of my life. If I hadn’t gone there, I probably would easily have ended up in jail or addicted to drugs or both.
Since that first time in Malaysia, I have been back there every few years for the last 20 or so years to visit family.

This is a view from Danum Valley in Sabah. I’ve traveled around Sabah quite a lot since that is where my step-mum and half-brother are from, but for some reason I don’t have many photos.
I can’t remember what this place is called, but it is a mall in Kota Kinabalu. Kota Kinabalu is the second-largest city in Malaysia and is where my step-mum lives.

I think this is from Batu Caves near Kuala Lumpur. I remember there being monkeys here also.

And finally, the famous Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, which is the capital of Malaysia.
I think Malaysia is definitely worth spending a few months in, though if it wasn’t for family I doubt I would keep going back there.
With their melting pot of Malay, Chinese, and Indian cuisine, it does have some of the best food in the world.
